Over 100 Men Receive Training In Men’s Ministry At PCA Church In Lancaster

On January 16, 103 pastors, elders, and other men’s ministry leaders attended the Reaching Every Man training led by PCA Men’s Ministry Consultant Gary Yagel at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lancaster, PA.  One enthusiastic participant commented, “I can’t remember ever gathering with one hundred men for anything, much less gathering with one hundred leaders to learn how to more effectively disciple men.”

The Reaching Every Man training is sponsored jointly by Man In the Mirror and CEP of the PCA. It is based upon the principles of effective men’s ministry discovered by Pat Morley in preparation for writing the books, No Man Left Behind, and Pastoring Men. The seminar is priced at just $38/man with a group rate of $28/man, making it possible for a church to bring four leaders for a little over $100.

Most of the men attended with other members of their church’s men’s ministry leadership team.  Tools were given to help these teams better understand the needs of the men in their church, how to design specific events or ministries to address those needs, and how to capture the momentum from the activities they plan. Time was given throughout the four-hour seminar for the men to discuss with their leadership team how to apply the principles they were learning in their unique churches. They were challenged to see their role, not simply as planning men-only events, but helping each man in the church to be engaged in whatever church activity (Sunday school, marriage class, home group, etc.) moves him down the discipleship path towards maturity in Christ.

Over 175 pastors and men’s ministry leaders have now been trained through this new Reaching Every Man seminar. It is a great way to form a men’s ministry team, or inspire and train existing men’s ministry leaders. For information on how to host this training click here.

Pastoring Men: What Works, What Doesn't and Why it Matters Now More than Ever
Pat Morley, Moody Press, 251 pages.

Much has been made about the "men problem". You can hear about it on Oprah or read about it in Time magazine. Many address the consequences, yet few are doing anything that will change the root of it. No man fails on purpose, yet society is wrought with the results. So what solution does Pastoring Men offer? Disciple men! The purpose of "Pastoring Men" is to equip you to effectively reach all of your men. Men are hard to reach. But be assured--- if you do, they will change the world.
